The aim of the Enspirit project is to develop an abatement system for removal of heat, moisture, sulphur oxides, ultrafine particulate matter and nitrogen oxides for diesel engines from trains. The combined system will provide a cost-effective and energy-efficient way of meeting the EPA’s new tier 4 emission rules for new and older diesel trains beginning in 2015.

The use of Catator’s mesh-based catalyst has made it possible to design a compact reactor where microwave antennas are integrated in the reactor unit. Once again proving that the mesh based catalyst offers novel reactor design solutions.
